Bernie is a happy, relaxed, easygoing and confident boy with a zest for life.
He would be best suited to a rural or semi rural home where he has some space to stretch those long legs of his. He's not a fan of being confined so lots of room to run around will give him that sense of freedom he loves. An active home would be ideal for Bernie – couch potatoes will not be a good match.
Bernie's foster mum describes him as a "blokes bloke", after a bit of a run around, he likes to just sit back, chill out and watch the world go by. He's not easily bored, but he does like company so someone home during the day would be fantastic.
Bernie is currently in a foster home with cats, dogs, horses and chooks and has learnt to respect them all. He LOVES other dogs and hasn't met one he doesn't like yet, so another dog in the home would be great. He is a very chilled guy when he gets the exercise he needs and is good with kids, although older children (over 8) would be best as he is a big boy and is still getting control of his rear end so may accidentally knock smaller children over by accident.
Bernie thinks he is a lap dog and will happily try to plonk himself down in your lap for a cuddle. He can be a little pushy when he wants to snuggle up with you on the couch, but is learning what is polite when snuggles are involved.
As with all Pound Hounds, Bernie must be allowed access to inside the home so he can really be a part of the family.
