Adoption Status: Available
Foster Status: In Foster Care
DOB: Approx March 2019 (just 4 months)
Breed: Mixed Breed (suspect Shepherd x)
Size: Large (currently 15kg but will likely be around 25-30kg-ish when fully grown)
Fencing Requirements: Minimum 1.5m of secure, dog-proof fencing around the home
Hobbies: Zoomies (around her pound pen), chewing her chew toys, lying in the sun
Good Habits: Quiet and calm (when she isn’t running around doing puppy stuff!), eager to please, knows sit
Bad Habits: None seen yet, but did show some interest in the free range chickens … (as most dogs do)
Personality Type: Friendly, outgoing and confident. Interested in what is happening around her. Medium energy level.
Special Requirements: None that we're aware of
Preferred TV show: has never seen TV, but she is a bit nosey so we reckon she would like a drama (think Neighbours or Coronation Street)
Ideal Home: An owner who understands how to provide kind and consistent training to pups. A family home with older kids could be good, where people may come and go, but where there is almost always someone around to provide a chin scratch and a kind word. However, a family isn’t essential as Maia would love to be part of any home where she is involved, consulted and included in day to day activities.
Adoption Fee: $285
Maia is a cool pup with a sweet nature, loads of character and she's a bit of a looker (in case you hadn't noticed!). She is just a pup, and she will grow big, so she needs an owner who is experienced with positive training methods, will take her cool places like doggy obedience classes and who can provide her with consistent rules from day 1 so that she grows up to be an adult dog with lovely manners and a good doggy citizen. Like all pups, Maia will benefit from positive socialisation around people, kids, cats, dogs, stock, chickens and the like while she is young.
Maia is a happy girl who is very food motivated and already knows how to sit nicely (she's suuuper quick at it if you have some yummy treats in your hand!). She also has a very gentle mouth - no snatching treats with this girl!
As with all Pound Hounds, Maia must be allowed inside (this includes to sleep) so she can really be part of the family. She will also require loads of love, a comfy bed (the couch will be great too thanks), quality (puppy) food, and regular flea and worm treatments.
