Adoption Status: Available to Adopt
Foster Status: In Foster Care
DOB: we were told 5 but suspect closer to 7 maybe even 8 due to his lumps and bumps
Breed: Mixed Bully Breed
Fencing Requirements: Minimum 1.6m of secure, dog-proof fencing around the home.
Hobbies: Snuggles, playing with his hoomans, chilling with his hoomans, going on adventures, belly rubs, naps in the sun, chewing bones
Good Habits: Happy, affectionate, GREAT with hoomans, seems to be good with dogs, affectionate, house trained, good manners, lovely soft mouth (doesn't snap at food or hands), crate trained
Bad Habits: Not a fan of being left alone for long periods but we've been working on this with him and he's getting better, learning to walk on a lead
Personality Type: Gentle and placid nature, very affectionate and happy. Medium energy
Special Requirements: Great quality food to keep his skin healthy. Cecil will require ongoing allergy medication to keep his skin under control.
Ideal Home: Cecil would love a home where he gets to be with his hooman all day - whether that's heading with you to work or chilling with you at home, he just loves to be with you. He's a fairly medium energy guy who loves to get out for a stroll so a home where he gets to go out for a wander with his hooman every day for at least 45 minutes would be fab. Cecil would love a calm home where he will get to be a real part of the family but would probably do best in a home with either older children or no kids (he's a good boy but loud and busy is stressful for him). Because of his history, Cecil will need a home that is committed to ensuring he gets the best food to keep him healthy and will pay attention to his skin and ears to ensure he never has to endure another ear infection ever again.
Adoption Fee: $320
Holy wow, what a guy is Cecil! This kid is the sweetest, goofiest, bundle of butterball-y goodness you ever did meet.
Cecil is a dude. He's just a happy guy who loves nothing more than to hang out with his hoomans, getting belly rubs, taking naps on people's legs or heading out for a wander with them to sniff the smells and see the sights. This guys is AWESOME in the car and will happily settle down for a nap on long journeys, popping up every now and then to make sure you're heading in the right direction. He's a great size too! He's about 29kgs but on the short and stocky side so easy to fit in the car.
Cecil came in to us in quite a state, so has been receiving medical care but has now received the all clear from our vets and is ready to find his forever home. Cecil came into care with ear infections in both ears, skin infections and missing fur from severe flea infestations, he also had a heap of lumps and bumps on his skin and a severe rash on his tummy caused by sleeping on concrete. Even with ALL of that going on, this guy was still butt wiggling and asking for belly rubs right from the day he came into care (in the middle of the vet clinic! haha). Because of the state he arrived in, we have been thorough in his vet care and he has received medication for his infections, had his hips checked under sedation (not xrayed), lumps checked, blood tests and of course, flea tretments, great food and supplements to help him get back to full health. All results came back good and now that his skin is better, he's ready to find his hoomans! Because of the state he came to us in, any future home will need to be committed to providing a good quality food, religious with his flea treatments, and keeping an eye on his ears to ensure he doesn't ever get another ear infection.
We don't know a lot about his past and he is currently the only animal in his foster home but he does appear to be dog social. We suspect he's also been around kids but think he would prefer a calm and quiet home so a home with no kids or kids over 14 would be best. His foster parents have been working very hard with him to help him feel more confident when he's on his own but he would definitely love a home where he got to be with his hoomans during the day as he just loves having hooman company. He has been a wanderer in the past so good fencing (no farm fencing) is a must.
Cecil is a lovely, good mannered boy who already knows sit, wait and shake paw, he has a beautiful soft mouth (he doesn't snatch food) and always has a very wiggly butt. He LOVES meeting new people and will sit and wait to go out of doors or for his dinner. He can get quite excited and turn into a 29kg missile at times when he does zoomies, but soon settles down with appropriate play and is very people oriented.
Can you offer Cecil a safe home full of adventures, company, quality food, a warm bed, regular flea and worm treatments, and most importantly loads of love for the rest of his days?
As with all Pound Hounds, Cecil must be allowed inside the home (this includes sleeping) so he can really be part of the family.
