Adoption Status: Available to Adopt

Foster Status: In Foster Care

DOB:  Approximately 5 years old

Sex: Male

Breed: Mixed Bully Breed (Bulldog x ?)

Fencing Requirements: Minimum 1.6m of secure, dog-proof fencing around the home.

Hobbies: Snuggles, playing with his hoomans, chilling with his hoomans, going on adventures, belly rubs, naps in the sun, chewing bones

Good Habits:  Happy, affectionate, GREAT with hoomans, affectionate, house trained, good manners, lovely soft mouth (doesn't snap at food or hands), crate trained

Bad Habits: Not a fan of being left alone for long periods but we've been working on this with him and he's getting better, learning to walk nicely on a lead, learning how to meet new doggy friends better (NOT aggressive, will bark back if a dog barks at him)

Personality Type: Gentle and happy nature, very affectionate. Medium-low energy but definitely likes to get out for his walks every day

Special Requirements: Cecil will require medicated baths and grain free food to keep his skin itch free and under control as he has skin allergies.

Ideal Home:  Cecil would love a home where he gets to be with his hooman all day - whether that's heading with you to work or chilling with you at home, he just loves to be with you. He's a fairly medium energy guy who loves to get out for a stroll so a home where he gets to go out for a wander with his hooman every day for at least 45 minutes would be fab. Cecil would love a calm home where he will get to be a real part of the family but would probably do best in a home with either older children or no kids (he's a good boy but loud and busy is stressful for him and he turns into a bit of a 30kg missile when he gets the zoomies). Because of his history, Cecil will need a home that is committed to ensuring he gets the best food to keep him healthy and will pay attention to his skin and ears to ensure he never has to endure another ear or skin infection ever again. A bully breed experienced home prepared to continue the Absolute Dogs training games we've been doing with him would be ideal - they're fun for him and are teaching him to not worry about anything other than his hoomans when out and about.

Adoption Fee: $250

Holy wow, what a guy is Cecil! This kid is the sweetest, goofiest, bundle of butterball-y goodness you ever did meet.

Cecil is a dude. He's just a happy guy who loves nothing more than to hang out with his hoomans, getting belly rubs, taking naps on people's legs or heading out for a wander with them to sniff the smells and see the sights. This guys is AWESOME in the car and will happily settle down for a nap on long journeys, popping up every now and then to make sure you're heading in the right direction. He's a great size too! He's about 29kgs and currently a little over-weight (we're working on it) but on the short and stocky side so easy to fit in the car.

Cecil came in to us in quite a state, so has been receiving medical care but has now received the all clear from our vets and is ready to find his forever home, however his new hoomans will need to continue with his treatments to ensure his allergies stay under control. Cecil came into care with ear infections in both ears, skin infections and missing fur from severe flea infestations, he also had a heap of lumps and bumps on his skin and a severe rash on his tummy caused by sleeping on concrete. Even with ALL of that going on, this guy was still butt wiggling and asking for belly rubs right from the day he came into care (in the middle of the vet clinic! haha). Because of the state he arrived in, we have been thorough in his vet care and he has received medication for his infections, had his hips checked under sedation (not xrayed), lumps checked, blood tests and of course, flea treatments, great grain free food and supplements to help him get back to full health. All results came back good and now that his skin is better, he's ready to find his hoomans! Because of the state he came to us in, any future home will need to be committed to providing a good quality grain free food, medicated baths, religious with his flea treatments, and keeping his ears clean to ensure he doesn't ever get another ear infection.

We don't know a lot about his past and he is currently the only animal in his foster home which is something we think would be best to continue for him. He is NOT aggressive, however he does lack some manners and social skills when initially meeting a new dog and will never be a "dog park" dog but he is working on his manners and would happily go for other controlled on lead walks with other dogs - this would also be great for his socialisation (interestingly, he does appear to be good with little dogs). As we all know, bully breeds can be judged quite harshly so we're looking for a home for Cecil where his hoomans understand this and will do what is necessary to best care for Cecil's needs and keep him safe. We suspect he's also been around kids but think he would prefer a calm and quiet home so a home with no kids or kids over 14 would be best. His foster parents have been working very hard with him to help him feel more confident when he's on his own at home and he now can spend the day on his own, but he would definitely love a home where he got to be with his hoomans at least part of the day as he just loves having hooman company. He has been a wanderer in the past so good fencing (no farm fencing) is a must. We do not know how he is with cats but he will chase birds, so we think a home where he is the only furry child would be best (no small critters, no sheep etc just in case).

Cecil is a lovely, good mannered boy who already knows sit, wait and shake paw, he has a beautiful soft mouth (he doesn't snatch food) and always has a very wiggly butt. He's a talker when he plays (not a barker, he talks), LOVES meeting new people and will sit and wait to go out of doors or for his dinner. He can get quite excited and turn into a 29kg missile at times when he does zoomies, but soon settles down with appropriate play and is very people oriented.

Can you offer Cecil a safe home full of adventures, company, quality food, a warm bed, regular flea and worm treatments, and most importantly loads of love for the rest of his days?

As with all Pound Hounds, Cecil must be allowed inside the home (this includes sleeping) so he can really be part of the family.

Thanks for checking out handsome Cecil's profile! We cant wait to find his forever hoomans, could that be you?
