Hobbies: Going on adventures and walkies, playing tug with her hoomans, cuddles, being with her people, making new doggy friends
Good Habits: Happy, social with hoomans, social with dogs, affectionate, already has lovely manners (can sit, lie down, high 5), very easy to be around, house trained, crate trained, good in the car, eager to please, LOVES food
Bad Habits: Not good with cats, strong chase drive, will jump up when too excited, not great on lead but much better on a front attaching harness
Personality Type: Medium-high energy, fun loving, happy, playful, great company (affectionate without being needy), very sweet nature
Special Requirements: None that we're aware of
Ideal Home: Ellie is still really a puppy. She LOVES her people and wants to spend all her time with you, but she is also used to being home alone during the day, a home where she gets to hang out with her hoomans all day or have some company would be a big bonus. Ellie is fantastic with other dogs but not at all good with cats, so a cat free home is a must. Ellie is fab with kids and loves to play, but she's pretty excitable so we would recommend a home with children over the age of 14. Ellie would love a home where she could get lots of loves and perhaps even be a running, walking or hiking buddy. She's not super high energy but a good hour in the morning before you head out to work then a play in the evening would be perfect in her book.
Adoption Fee: $320
Ellie first came into our care as a wee baby of about 8 weeks old with her two sisters. She found a wonderful family who love her dearly, but sadly due to a change in health, they have made the heartbreaking decision to work with us to find Ellie an amazing new forever home.
Ellie is as sweet as a sweet thing and just adores her hoomans although in true Lab style she loves her food too - but food comes a close second to hoomans. This makes Ellie SUPER trainable - she'll do whatever you ask for a treat and even more for a bit of praise! Ellie attended puppy preschool as a baby so has had great socialisation with other dogs and already knows her basic manners as well as a trick or two. She LOVES to play tug but hasn't quite figured out the ball thing... she thinks it's a bit boring really... zoomies are WAY more fun!
Ellie would LOVE a home where she could be your running or walking buddy. She is an energetic girl without being crazy about it, so a good walk in the morning (minimum 1 hour at least) before you head out to work and then another walk or play session when you get home would be right up this kid's alley! After a good walk and play session this girl will happily chill out in the lounge while you all watch telly in the evening. Ellie hasn't been allowed on the furniture in her current home but she has done a wee sneaky on occasion when her hooman has been unwell - she's curled up at the end of the couch with her head on her hoomans feet to try and make them feel better. We're pretty sure she'd love to be a snuggle buddy on the couch if she were allowed.
This beautiful girl is great in the car on trips but for some reason, getting into the car can be a little scary for her still - once shes in she's fine! But her new hoomans will need to be patient with her and continue to show her that car means fun things.
Ellie has been a very loved and treasured girl and this shows in her beautiful sweet nature and love for her hoomans, so we're looking for an amazing home that will give her what she needs and truly treat her like a family member. She IS a bit of a drool machine when she sees a treat so her new hoomans can't be squeamish about getting a bit of slobber on things - food is just so TASTY!
Ellie will jump up when excited (and she's still a puppy so she's often excited) but she is also HIGHLY trainable so if her hoomans were to teach her calm is the way to get more attention we reckon she'd be super in no time. For this reason though, we are looking for a home with either no children for Ellie or older children over the age of 14. She also pulls on the lead but with a front attaching harness, she's much better. She's not a barker (in fact if another dog barks in the neighbourhood, she'll run to the fence to have a nosey but doesn't make a peep) but will let you know when someone arrives at the house.
Ellie has a chase drive and will chase cats, birds, anything small that runs so no cats or small furry critters for her and no off lead play unless she's in a contained area. We would also recommend any new family work on impulse control training with Ellie to help with this. For this reason also, farm fencing will not be suitable.
Can you offer Ellie a safe forever home full of adventures, company, quality food, a warm bed, regular flea and worm treatments, and most importantly loads of love for the rest of her days?
As with all Pound Hounds, Ellie must be allowed inside the home (this includes sleeping) so she can really be part of the family.
