Adoption Status: Available to Adopt
Foster Status: In foster care
DOB: approx 7 months old
Breed: Lab x Huntaway
Fencing Requirements: Minimum 1.5m, dog-proof fencing around the home.
Hobbies: Going on adventures and walkies, lying in the sun, car rides, being with her people, playing with her toys (she loves her squeaky toy), belly and chest rubs, rolling in the grass with a stick in her mouth, splashing in her paddling pool, EATING!, using her nose, exploring, finding treasures.
Good Habits: Super affectionate, social with hoomans, social with dogs, already has lovely manners (can sit, lie down, give paw, wait etc), very easy to be around, house trained, crate trained, gentle when taking food, eager to please, loves kids, very smart, super happy.
Bad Habits: Typical puppy stuff - will chew stuff if bored so hide your jandals, will dig a hole if bored also so if you're precious about your lawn she may not be the girl for you. She jumps up when she gets too excited but with very soft feet so she doesn't bowl you over. Will steal food off the bench when you're not looking - not because she's hungry, just because it smells way better than dog food (part Lab remember...)
Personality Type: Medium energy, gentle, soft natured, great company (affectionate without being needy), SUPER easy to have around
Special Requirements: None that we're aware of
Ideal Home: Jade would LOVE a home where she could be with her people during the day. She just adores her hoomans and although she is able to be alone all day, we'd love to give her a home where hoomans can be with her more. She also loves to get out and about for walks and adventures and we think that once she's old enough, she'd LOVE to be a running buddy. Although not high energy, she can easily do an hour a day so she's no couch potato and would love an active home. We think a home with another older well mannered dog would be great and a home with kids over 8 would be super fun for Jade! She looooves kids but sometimes forgets not to jump up so older kids are best. Jade is a smart girl so a home where people are going to teach her loads of things would be amazing so she doesn't get bored.
Adoption Fee: $320
To meet Jade you would never know the rough start she's had. This girl is in love with life and every single hooman that crosses her path, she's the first one to come up for a kiss and to sit in your lap and if you give her toys and treats she's your best friend for life!
Jade's foster dad says "Jade is a beautiful natured dog and has a lot of love to give. She's friendly and affectionate towards anyone she meets. She would bring so much joy to a lucky family" and we agree with him. Jade is a special girl who would be a wonderful, loving addition to any family that can offer her the same in return along with regular exercise and who will teach her heaps of fun things to work her brain (she loves her snuffle mat and sniffing out treasures so lots of sniffy and find it type games would be super fun for her - plus, you know, FOOD!)
Jade LOVES her toys - her favourite is her squeaky teddy but she also loves to find sticks and roll around on her back in the grass while she chews on them. She is doing really well with meeting new dogs and has lovely manners although being a pup who had limited socialisation when she was younger this would be something we'd recommend any new owners continued working on with her to make sure she learns to be a great doggy citizen. Jade hasn't been in a home with cats and we'd recommend a home without one unless the cat is VERY dog savvy. Currently if she sees a cat she is very inquisitive and will bark at them (she's not normally a barker otherwise).
Jade loves meeting people and is intrigued by busy places, lots going on doesn't faze her at all and considering her love for kids, we think a family home is something she would LOVE. Because she does sometimes jump up when she gets excited we believe a home with kids over 8 years would be best. She loves to get out for lots of exploring and sniffy time every day, but she also loves being at home with you getting lots of belly rubs and chest rubs and just hanging out. Jade was not well socialised as a puppy and for this reason we believe it would be best if she met dogs in a controlled and positive way while she is still young. Therefore, dog parks or daycare would not be a great match for her, however play sessions with other well mannered dog friends that she has met in a calm way first would be great! We think she would love another doggy friend in the home and would recommend an older, well mannered dog to show her the ropes, but a home on her own would be fine with her too.
Jade is looking for a family to be her besties - she loves to jump up on the couch for a snuggle so a home where she'll still get to have couch time with her hoomans would be fab. She is crate and house trained and already knows her basic manners and is even working on some tricks! She's a SUPER smart girl so will absolutely thrive in a home where she gets to learn new stuff. True to the Lab nature, she can be a bit of a thief with "treasures", so any new family would need to be really careful to keep stuff that's no good for a dog away from where she can get it.
Jade is a wonderful, loving and sweet girl, she's small for her age and breed and has the most beautiful soft coat and big brown eyes. She loves car rides and water (she's been known to splash in her water bowl) and adventures and most of all she would do anything for her hoomans. We love this girl to bits already and we're so excited for her to find a wonderful family all of her very own.
Can you offer Jade a safe forever home full of adventures, company, quality food, a warm bed, regular flea and worm treatments, and most importantly loads of love for the rest of her days?
As with all Pound Hounds, Jade must be allowed inside the home (this includes sleeping) so she can really be part of the family.
