Adoption Status: Available to Adopt
Foster Status: In foster care
DOB: approx 1 year old
Breed: Collie x (we were told x Foxy however we do not believe this is correct, more likely English Bull Terrier but this is only a guess)
Size: Petite Medium (she's quite a bit smaller than she looks in photos) only 19kgs and fully grown
Fencing Requirements: Minimum 1.6m of secure, dog-proof fencing around the home
Hobbies: Going on adventures and walkies, car rides, laying her head in your lap on the couch, being with her people, playing with her toys (squeakies are her fav and fetch is fun too), food puzzles and games, laying in the sunshine, naps
Good Habits: Happy, EASY, very social with hoomans, very social with dogs, affectionate but not needy, already has lovely manners (can sit, lie down), very easy to be around, not needy, house trained, crate trained, good in the car, will do ANYTHING for food
Bad Habits: She'll take herself for a walk if she gets the chance (she doesn't go over fencing, she goes through it), working on lead manners but has gotten much better, will chase things if they run (cats), will hog the couch/bed
Personality Type: Medium energy, fun loving, easy going, playful, great company (affectionate without being needy) She's still a puppy so plenty of puppy type fun
Special Requirements: Good quality food (preferably with fish in it)
Ideal Home: Marlowe is still really a puppy. She LOVES her people and wants to spend all her time with you, but she is also happy to just hang out and do her thing while you do yours so a home where she gets to hang out with her hoomans all day would be a big bonus. Marlowe is fantastic with other dogs, so a home where she can hang out with another dog or have doggy friends would also be great. Marlowe is fab with older children and loves to play but can get a bit excited as puppies do, so we would recommend a home with children over the age of 8 years. A cat and small critter free home is a must.
Adoption Fee: $320
She's happy, she's affectionate, she's playful and she's REALLY easy to have around! Marlowe is a star! And with those beautiful big brown eyes, she wins everyone over in a second! She's still a puppy really at barely a year old and despite her hard times, she's come out the other side still loving life.
Marlowe LOVES her toys, whether that's squeaking and throwing around her teddy on her own, chasing her ball or playing tug with you, it's all fun! After a good walk and play session this girl will happily crash out on the couch for a nap while you carry on with your day. She loves to hang out with you during the day but she isn't needy or clingy, content to just be with you. But beware... leave your office chair for too long and she'll nab it! This girl is hilarious and has a thing for chairs she's been caught a few times sneaking onto the office chair when you've left it for a second!
Marlowe came into our care with 8 puppies - and she's only a puppy herself!! - 6 of her babes headed off to another rescue and Marlowe and her babies Mini and Major stayed in our care. Major and Mini found their forever hoomans but Marlowe is still waiting... Marlowe does have a rough past, hoomans weren't very nice to her and with 8 babies to feed, she was in a bit of a bad way on arrival. BUT, she has now discovered the joys of being a pup in a loving home with regular meals and loads of love. Her skin is all better, her infections have cleared up and her boobs are now no longer full of milk and have gone back to normal size! (Just in case you were wondering... haha). She's had the chop so no more babies for her and she can get on with life with a family that will love her and treat her right for the rest of her days.
Marlowe isn't high energy but she will still need daily exercise off the property - a walk around the block won't cut it. She's pint sized so she's easy to fit in the car and would make a fab running or hiking buddy. She is eager to please (especially if you have food...) and easy to have around so will be a great addition to the family. She is however, a bit of a couch hog so a home where she's allowed on the furniture would be great according to her (she's not allowed on the couch at her foster home but she DOES sneak into bed with the kids at night sometimes). She loves to snuggle on the couch in the evening and rest her head on your lap to snooze. She is used to being at home with someone during the day and this is what we'd love for her but she is also ok with being on her own if necessary.
Marlowe has interacted with many other dogs and has good doggy manners, she is VERY dog social. She does however have a chase drive and will chase cats, birds, anything small that runs so no cats or small furry critters for her. She's currently in a foster home with chickens and has gotten much better around them but is still VERY interested in chasing so we think a small critter free home would be best for everyone. For this reason also, farm fencing will not be suitable as Marlowe has been known to take herself for walks if given the chance (gaps in the fence, she doesn't climb over, she goes through gaps she finds) and we want to make sure she is safe and not getting into trouble.
Marlowe has a FAB brain and loves to use it, so a home where she gets to learn new things, play games and do further training (tricks, manners, anything to work the brain) would be her dream home. She will find stuff to do herself if she's bored (like any pup) so a fun home that realises this would be ideal.
Can you offer Marlowe a safe home full of adventures, company, quality food, a warm bed, regular flea and worm treatments, and most importantly loads of love for the rest of her days?
As with all Pound Hounds, Marlowe must be allowed inside the home (this includes sleeping) so she can really be part of the family.
