Adoption Fee: $320
Skye is a pretty pup with a sweet and affectionate nature. She loves learning new things and getting out and about to see and smell the world. She will need a securely fenced property to live in as she has been known to take herself for a wander if the opportunity presents itself, so no farm fencing please.
Skye is very people focused and although she is good with other dogs, would definitely prefer to be the only canine child in the home, she loves greeting new visitors but will give a little bark first to let you know they're here. Although Skye is great with kids, a home with children over 10 would be best.
Skye is very affectionate and loving, a very fast learner and very smart so she would do great in a home where she gets to snuggle with her family but will still have daily exercise (walk/run in the morning and play/zoomie time in the evening would work great), get to do fun training games with her people to work that smart brain and go on cool adventures. Although Skye is super chilled when at home with her family, she is an active girl and needs DAILY exercise and something to do to keep that puppy boredom at bay. She is currently in a foster home with one other elderly dog, a baby and has been introduced to chickens (which she wanted to play with so we recommend no small critters in the home) she has NOT met cats and we suspect she would chase if given the opportunity although a staunch cat that stands up for itself and doesn't run may be ok. Although Skye is fine with other dogs, she really does prefer hooman company.
Skye needs a person who is willing to take her to great things like dog obedience classes who use positive reward based methods, do cool things with her like teach her tricks and fun games to work her clever brain, go on awesome outings with her to teach her about the world so that she grows up to be a great member of doggy society with lovely manners.
Like all pups, Skye will benefit from continued socialisation around people, kids, cats, dogs, stock, chickens and the like while she is young. She loves to meet new people but can get a little overwhelmed in a new environment so will need a family who will be able to recognise when she is feeling uncomfortable, who will give her a sec to get her bearings and help her feel safe and confident.
Skye is a happy and loving girl and her foster parents have struggled with not adopting her themselves because she's so sweet. She's completely house trained and has started learning some basic manners too. She is learning to walk nicely on lead and her foster parents have been working on her recall also (although this is something any new family would need to work on from scratch as a bond is developed).
As with all Pound Hounds Rescue dogs, Skye must be allowed inside the home (including to sleep) so she can really be part of the family. She will also require a comfy bed, quality (puppy) food, and regular flea and worm treatments.
