Adoption Status: Available to Adopt
Foster Status: In Foster Care
DOB: approx 8 months old
Breed: Wire Haired Jack Russell x
Fencing Requirements: Minimum 1.6m of secure, dog-proof fencing around the home
Hobbies: Running, playing, wiggling, being sassy, getting cuddles
Good Habits: Happy, social with hoomans, appears to be social with dogs, affectionate, house trained, super food motivated, not a big barker, fast learner, learning basic manners, eternal optimist (thinks everything is awesome)
Bad Habits: Can be a bit of a cuddle freak, digs when bored, doesn't hear you when she gets too excited (but she is a puppy so this should come with time and training), can play a little rough when excited
Personality Type: Fun, loving, cuddly, happy, playful, enthusiastic, mischievous and adorable - Sassy is a high energy girl.
Special Requirements: None that we're aware of
Ideal Home: Sassy is an active girl so she will need an active home (she's not a walk around the block sort of kid), preferably with another dog to play with. She loves her people and kids so a home where she gets to hang out with her hoomans all day is a big bonus as she hates to be alone or bored. Hoomans willing to give her both mental (training, games etc) and physical exercise will be a must for Sassy.
Adoption Fee: $320
Sassy just wants to have fun and make you happy. She loves her bedtime cuddles and could play all day, whatever you are doing she wants to be a part of it, as long as you include her she is enjoying herself.
Sassy loves to run around and throw her chew toys up in the air then try to catch them or chase her ball. Nothing stops this little energizer bunny (which is how she ended up with the name Sassy Wigglepants!). But at night all she wants is to sit next to you and have a cuddle. She snuggles right next to you and shows her tummy, looks at you with the biggest puppy eyes and if you don't rub her tummy after she gives you the look, you'd think you might be committing a crime.
Sassy ears are painted on half the time but she is learning 'sit', 'stay', 'no', 'pee', and 'bed'. She is doing really well but it's pretty clear that she's had no training before coming into our care and any new family will need to continue with her training so she becomes a well mannered doggy citizen. She is however, house and crate trained. Positive, force free training is a must. Sassy walks well on a lead and loves other dogs, however she is highly excitable so will need to be reminded from time to time how to play nicely and not too rough. She hasn't had a lot of contact around cats, so far the cats she has met have been in a cage, behind a window or shes been on the lead. She doesn't seem to mind them, she's just curious and wants to play. She is a terrier however so may be too rough for kittens or chase shy cats, but with proper introductions, she may be ok with a cat that stands it's ground and tells her who's the boss, although a cat free home would be best. Chickens are a no go however, so a small critter and chicken free home is a must.
Sassy loves people and wants nothing more than to play with everyone at the same time. Her foster mum says she might explode if she doesn't get a pat from everyone in the room and she will stick to the person who has the best tummy and ear rubs. Sassy has been great with kids so far however because she is so enthusiastic, we would recommend children over 8 years of age would be best.
Can you offer Sassy a safe home full of adventures, company, quality food, a warm bed, regular flea and worm treatments, and most importantly loads of love for the rest of her days?
As with all Pound Hounds, Sassy must be allowed inside the home (this includes sleeping) so she can really be part of the family.
