Casper

Adoption Status: Available to Adopt

Foster Status: In foster care

DOB:  dob 17/09/25 (approx 11 weeks old)

Sex: Male

Breed:  "Potluck Poundie" - we suspect he is a Staffy x

Size: Medium at a guess - he has short little legs but a stocky body.

Fencing Requirements: Minimum 1.5m dog-proof fencing around the home or decent farm fencing.

Hobbies: Playing, puppy zoomies, hanging out with his hoomans, playing with the adult dog in his foster home, exploring the world, playing tuggy and fetch, chewing on his toys, going on adventures in his frontpack with his foster dad, sitting in his foster hoomans laps and chewing his toys

Good Habits: Crate trained, mostly house trained, sleeps through the night, smart, loves to explore and play and learn, loves people, learning basic manners, good with the cat in his foster home, good with all the dogs he's met

Bad Habits: He's still a baby so no bad habits but does enjoy chewing so his hoomans need to make sure to give him things he's allowed to chew so he doesn't chew stuff he shouldn't.

Personality Type: Medium energy, happy, confident, playful, affectionate, mischievous. Loud noises can be a little scary at first.

Special Requirements: None that we are aware of

Adoption Fee: $350

Ideal Home:

Casper came into our care from one of our partner vet clinics. He was found by a member of the public, dumped so they brought him into the vet clinic to see if they could find his people. No one claimed him so they contacted us to see if we could take him in. How could we resist that face.

During the time Casper was at the vet clinic, he met lots of people and lots of animals (safely of course) so he's had a great start on socialisation and learning that vet clinics aren't scary.

Casper is a happy, sassy, michievious little dude who lights up a room with his cutness and chaos (in a good way). If you're looking for a new family member who wants to be your best mate, Casper is your guy.

Casperloves to explore outside, play with his toys (especially tuggy and fetch) and do zoomies, but also loves to have cuddles and snuggle up with a hooman for a nap or for more toy chewing. With his fun, outgoing, goofy but sweet personality, Casper would be a great addition to any household that loves to hang out with their doggo, have adventures and play. He loves kids, adults, dogs, everyone really but he does find loud noises or mean barky dogs a bit scary at the moment.

Casper is currently living in a foster home with another adult dog (who is teaching him appropriate manners), a cat (who he has a healthy respect for) and two older children (12+). We think a home with either no kids or older kids (10+) would suit him best. He'd do fine in a home with a cat that stands up for itself (with some appropriate direction from hoomans of course) and would love an older female dog with a gentle but playful nature to learn from.

Casper isn't fully vaccinated just yet but has been out and about in his frontpack with his foster dad to experience the world in a safe way. His foster family say he's a "best mate" sort of pup and would love a home where he gets to spend at least some of the day with his hoomans as he's very people oriented. While he is still young, he will need someone home with him during the day.

While he doesn't have crazy energy, Casper is an active boy so wouldn't suit a couch potato lifestyle. He's what we'd call medium energy - loves a good zoom and to get out every day for a good walk (not just a walk around the block) with a good play session with his hoomans thrown in for good measure. He is still a baby and does need lots of naps (he gets a little naughty when he needs a nap, like any kids). He is crate trained and especially loves getting his special treat every time it's nap time. With something to chew on in his crate, he's quite content so we would recommend any future family continue with his crate training - especially to help him continue to learn about "switching off" when it's time to chill (he's getting pretty good at it now).

Casper's foster family say: "Casper is fun, loveable, little bit mischievous, bit of a goofball with a hint of sas. He has the funnest little personality. He would ideally need to have someone home with him. I think he would get lonely if he was left at home all day while his hoomans went to work. I would say Casper needs a hooman who is looking for a dog best friend. He just wants to be your bud. He is a fast learner and very treat motivated."

Casper is an awesome guy but will need a home that can provide clear and consistent rules and boundaries. He would do best with a hooman who is experienced with strong breed doggos and who understands that his breed type loves to chew and be willing to put in the effort to teach him what he can chew and what he shouldn't.

Any future hoomans for Casper must be prepared to continue teaching him all the things a good pupper should know so he can grow into a good doggy citizen. We reckon he'd love to attend a good Puppy preschool with his hooman to continue learning all the good things he needs to know.

Please do your research on bully breeds before applying - Capser is a beautiful natured boy but would not suit a first time dog owner (unless you are actually prepared to learn about the breed and want to put the work in to helping him be his best self).

If you can provide Casper with a fully fenced property, quality food, regular flea and worm treatments, a comfy and warm bed, a comfy couch to nap on, toys and most of all lots of love for the rest of his days, click on the apply to adopt button and complete the application form.

Thanks for checking out handsome guy Casper's profile! We cant wait to help him find his forever hoomans, could that be you?
