Ideal Home:

Pearl and her 6 sibilings came into Animal Control care at only ONE day old! Sadly their mama passed away while giving birth to them. At 1 week old, they came to us and have been in their amazing foster homes ever since. They've received the very best care and have all been able to be around adult doggos that have been their surrogate mamas so they've had the opportunity to be well socialised with other dogs and have also had the benefit of staying with their littermates, which means they have had the ability to learn all the good things any pupper needs to learn from their littermates too. Because they have all been bottle fed, they are also very affectionate and social pups with hoomans too.

Pearl is used to having someone home with her during the day so a home where someone is with her at least some of the day would be fab.

Pearl (or Pearlas McMerlas as she's known by her foster family ) is a big ball of love and fun. She fetches ‘gifts’ ( usually one of her foster mum's shoes) then stands with it in her mouth looking at bedroom door wagging her tail asking to be let in for cuddles in bed. She iiiiis slightly obsessed with morning cuddles in bed... (to be clear, she doesn't eat said shoes, just brings them to you as a present).

Pearl is in a foster home with 4 small breed adult dogs and a very dog savvy cat and is currenlty living on a lifestyle block with chooks and cows.  She would love a home with another dog to learn all the good things from and play with (she particularly loves little dogs). She is great with the cat in her foster home, she would be fine in a home with a cat that stands up for itself. She's also met a turtle, pig and cows.

Pearl has been around kids since she came into our care and adores them but she would best suit a calm and quiet home with either no kids or kids 8+ who are gentle and kind but that would love to play and snuggle with her. She'd love a home with hoomans who will enjoy taking her on daily walks and weekend adventures, seeing the world together as well as someone to cuddle up with on the couch of course.

Pearl is not a girl that would suit someone just looking to take their dog to the dog park - dogs rushing up to her are scary for her - she would love though to have dogs to hang out with or go for walks with and hoomans who are prepared to advocate for her space when other dogs get too pushy. She has met LOADS of dogs and is great with them once she's had the chance to meet properly (very happy and wiggly) but can be shy in new situations at first.

This clever little miss already knows her basic manners and has a great recall for a pup, she's also learning to walk nicely on leash and is very food motivated so will do anything for a treat. She's very smart and picks up new training very quickly.

Her foster mum says: "Pearl is the perfect dog and in the right hands will soon build her confidence. She is kind, gentle, and easy to train. She is a big ball of love and fun. She has different coloured eyes and a permanent worried/startled expression even when she's happy. She snores like a train."

Pearl will need a family committed to making sure she learns all the things a good pupper should know so she can grow into a good doggy citizen.

If you can provide Pearl with a fully fenced property, quality food, regular flea and worm treatments, a comfy and warm bed, a comfy couch to nap on, toys and most of all lots of love for the rest of her days, click on the apply to adopt button and complete the application form.
