Ideal Home:

Tonka and his 6 siblings found themselves surrendered to the pound with their mum when he was only 6 weeks old. Luckily the pound staff are amazing and made sure they stayed safe while their mum did a fab job of making sure they grew up to be great babies.

Tonka is still a baby so he will need someone home with him during at least some of the day.

Tonka got his name because he's built like a tonka truck - short and chonky. This little man is super handsome, with his handsome little face and grey coat he reminds our team of a little old man.

Tonka is the sort of guy who LOVES his people. He'll happily trot along in your footsteps staring up at you like you're his whole world.  He's a people guy. True to Husky form Tonka LOVES to learn (especially if it involves food) and is very eager to please - doing his very best to do what you ask (even if he doesn't always succeed). He also LOVES to run and play and chew. This all means that he will need a home where he will get the mental stimulation he needs along with clear rules and boundaries - not just physical exercise. He loves his toys, especially his tuggy toy but food is a big driver for him too. He is currently in a foster home on a farm, with adult dogs, a dog savvy cat and goats (which are still a bit scary). We would recommend a chook and small critter free home. With proper introductions and clear boundaries, he may be ok in a home with a cat that is confident around dogs.

Tonka is a Husky mix so will need plenty of exercise - for his brain and for his body. He would love hoomans who will enjoy taking him on daily walks or runs, as well as adventures on the weekends when he's old enough. We think when he's old enough he will make a great running/hiking/long walks buddy. He'd also love another (female) dog in the home to play with and learn from, but that's not a necessity.

Tonka is a really happy, sweet natured guy to have around. He has not met kids and will likely be an enthusiastic teen as he grows so a home with either no children or dog confident kids 10 + would be best.

Tonka loves going for walks, playing with his sister on the farm and his toys, exploring new places, sniffing and chewing everything he's allowed to chew. He will need a home with an active lifestyle and plenty of mental stimulation. He is already toilet and crate trained.

Due to his breed, we recommend an active, strong breed or Husky experienced home. We would recommend that any potential applicants do their research before applying for Tonka or his siblings - while these pups are clearly SUPER cute and have beautiful natures, the Husky breed is NOT for everyone. They require significant time and investment in training and exercise and are known "problem solvers" who, if not given the mental stimulation they need, WILL find their own fun.

Tonka will need a family committed to making sure he learns all the things a good pupper should know so he can grow into a good doggy citizen. Puppy preschool would be a great start but really it comes down to clear, consistent rules and boundaries.

If you can provide Tonka with a fully fenced property, quality food, regular flea and worm treatments, a comfy and warm bed, a comfy couch to nap on, toys and most of all lots of love for the rest of his days, click on the apply to adopt button and complete the application form.

Thanks for checking out handsome guy Tonka's profile! We cant wait to help him find his forever hoomans, could that be you?
